Rice Pilaf with Tomatoe Paste

| | Comments (1)

This noon I tried to cook the rice with tomatoe paste. I like pasta with tomatoe, and I was planning to make one. When everything was ready, the butter was sauteed and the tomatoe paste was added, I changed my mind and instead of pasta, I prepared pilaf. It turned out good.

Rice Pilaf with Tomatoe Paste

I saw many different posts for pilaf. Most of them looks interesting and mouth watering, yet I was stuck to my usual pilaf cooking method. I needed that change.

Fried Plantain

I always see plantain in the supermarkets. Finally I tried. It was an interesting experience.

Fried Plantain

I did not know that the plantain I bought was raw, and I need to wait for quite some time. When I fried them, there were still some raw parts. I should say that eating a raw plantain was not a big pleasure, even it was cooked.

Kashkek (Wheat Puree)

Kashkek (keşkek) is another traditional Turkish dish that is usually served in big gatherings. It is usually served with meat, like gravy. It's texture is a little thicker than the gravy.

Keskek (Wheat Puree)

The preparation is tedious and takes some time. At least I was thinking that way, and did not even try earlier. Last month, when I was talking to my mom, she gave me this recipe. It is really easy. You cook the wheat slowly, add cold water when necessary, and do your other tasks.

Semolina Halva

Halva is the name of two distinctly different types of dessert. One of them is candy like dessert made from tahini, and can be stored for a very long time. It is very popular in the Middle East, the Balkans, and other areas around the Mediterranean.

Semolina Halva

The other one is made from semolina (or flour), and should be consumed relatively shorter time. Semolina halva is a very common dessert in Turkey. (And I recenlty learned it is also a very common dessert in India).

Accoring to an article I read today, McDonalds introduced new vegan options, including the McAloo Tikki, Crispy Chinese Sandwich, Salsa Wrap, and a vegan pizza pocket called the McPuff in India.

You can reach to the article from here, and the original news from here.

I aggree with the writer, and I wish they offered the simillar options in the US.

Dried Fruit Oatmeal Cookies

I really like oatmeal cookies, and my favorites are raisin-cinnamon oatmeal cookies. I found this recipe from a margarine package. It makes about 1.5 dozen large cookies, or 3 dozen small cookies.

Oatmeal Cookies

As usual, I add all of the dried fruits I found at the home.

Onion Corn Bread

When I was searching for new recipes I saw this one. In my country we make it as a salty cake and eat it with afternoon tea.

Onion Corn Bread

It is a really easy recipe and makes 6 servings.

Spaghetti with Grilled Vegetable

This is another easy and a healthy dish. Actually if you are vegetarian, this is one of the few options you will have during lunch meeting. You can substitute the ingredients with any vegetable you like. This propotions make 3 servings.

Spaghetti with Grilled Vegetable

I ate spaghetti with grilled vegetables first at a seminar I attended, and like it so much. Grilled vegetables spice up the spaghetti, and they transform a regular spaghetti meal to a really delicous one.
