Rice Pilaf with Tomatoe Paste

| | Comments (1)

This noon I tried to cook the rice with tomatoe paste. I like pasta with tomatoe, and I was planning to make one. When everything was ready, the butter was sauteed and the tomatoe paste was added, I changed my mind and instead of pasta, I prepared pilaf. It turned out good.

Rice Pilaf with Tomatoe Paste

I saw many different posts for pilaf. Most of them looks interesting and mouth watering, yet I was stuck to my usual pilaf cooking method. I needed that change.

It took about half an hour to prepare the dish. For 5 servings.

Ingredients:
2.5 cups of rice
4-5 cups of hot water
1 tbsp tomatoe paste
2 tsp salt
1 tsp curry
1 tsp oregano
1/2 cup peas
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp cooking oil

1. Wash and drain the rice.

2. Sautee butter and cooking oil for 30 seconds at medium heat.

3. Add tomatoe puree and keep sauteing for 1 more minute.

4. Add rice and mix it with tomatoe paste.

5. Add 4 cups of hot water. Cook the rice for 20 minutes.

6. If the rice is still uncooked when all the water gone add more water.*

7. When the rice is cooked add peas, salt and other spices.

* Adjust the water amount according to your rice. Necessary water amount for cooking is usually given on the label.
